A motorist had to be rescued by fire crews after their car got stuck in floodwater.

Firefighters were called to Sandringham Court in Slough at about 09:30 BST when the person became trapped in the vehicle under a bridge.

Crews managed to push the car safely out of the water before handing the situation over to Slough Borough Council, which closed the road.

It comes as roads and houses have flooded in central and southern England as parts of the country saw a month's worth of rain in a matter of hours.

National Highways has advised people not to drive through floodwater given the potential of hidden hazards.

It has also provided a range of safety measures, external to take when driving in wet conditions.

A Met Office amber weather warning is in place for the region until at least 21:00 BST.
