Plans have been submitted to transform a Grade II listed former office building into 14 self-contained apartments.
Real Property Assets Limited is seeking permission from Peterborough City Council to construct the apartments at 43 Priestgate, in the city.
If approved, the plans would see 11 one-bedroom apartments, two two-bedroom apartments and one studio built across three floors.
The plans stated: "The scheme offers the additional benefit of bringing an empty building back into use and the provision of residential accommodation in the city centre."
The planning documents , externaladded there has been a "strong shift" from office use to flatted development along Priestgate in recent years.
While the development would lead to the loss of seven car parking spaces, the applicant said car parking provision was not required by the Local Plan as the site was located within the city core.
The plans stated: "This development is clearly a sustainable proposal which will improve the economic, social and environmental conditions of the area in accordance with Local Plan Policy LP1."
The Local Democracy Reporting Service said city council planning officers will make a decision on the application at a later date.
