Airport closed after aircraft 'overshoots runway'

An airport has been closed "until further notice" after a light aircraft overshot the runway.

Gloucestershire Airport said on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the incident happened at 19:04 BST on Tuesday.

No injuries have been reported and the Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) has been notified.

The airport said that the Gloucestershire Airport Emergency Plan was "immediately activated", and emergency services were called.

It added: "We are unable to provide any further information at this time and updates will follow when appropriate.

"Thank you for your understanding whilst we deal with this incident."
