The A17 in Lincolnshire will remain closed until lunchtime on Monday following a fatal collision, according to police.

Two men died following a crash involving a lorry and a van on Friday morning between Brant Broughton and Leadenham.

Officers returned to the scene earlier to carry out further investigative work, which they described as "very complex".

Lincolnshire Police said there were multiple road closures leading to the A17 with diversions in place.

The vehicles collided on the A17 just after 07:00 GMT on Friday.

The driver of the lorry, a 68-year-old man, and the driver of the van, a 23-year-old man, were both pronounced dead at the scene, the force said.

Officers completed their enquiries at the scene on Saturday afternoon. The closures remained in place to allow debris to be cleared by National Highways.

The force asked drivers to heed the closure signs as the roads beyond have not been gritted and are icy.

Motorists who had ignored the signs had been issued with penalty notices, officers said.
