A duck and ducklings have been rescued by firefighters from a roof of a building in a town centre.

The duck and eight ducklings were found trapped on the roof of a three-storey building on Minster Street near Reading's Oracle shopping centre.

A crew from Caversham Road fire station used ladders to reach the stricken waterfowl on Wednesday afternoon.

Once safely brought to the ground, via a pet carrier bag, they were taken into the care of a local wildlife charity.
