Two men, including one who had been stabbed, have been taken to hospital with serious injuries following fights involving a group in a town centre.
Bedfordshire Police said it was called to reports of "two altercations" in Luton, in Park Street and on the pathway between Windmill Road and Park Viaduct, at about 15:30 GMT on Friday.
It said that although the events might be "concerning for the local community", it believed the altercations were linked and a "contained incident".
It said officers would continue to patrol the area and appealed for anyone with CCTV, dashcam footage or any information to get in touch.
