A secondary school in Surrey has been closed on Thursday while fire crews tackle a blaze at a tennis centre on the site.

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was not affecting the main school buildings at Ash Manor School in Ash, but asked people to avoid the area.

However, the incident has caused power outages at the school, said Surrey County Council.

The school said it expected to be open as normal on Friday.

Surrey Police said: "The school is currently closed and officers are in attendance to help manage traffic.

"We are asking people to avoid the area."
