Elderly woman's death not suspicious, police say

A woman was pronounced dead after she was found trapped under a car in Wilnecote

The death of an elderly woman who was found trapped under a vehicle is not being treated as suspicious, police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called to Bowling Green Avenue in Wilnecote, near Tamworth, shortly before 11:00 BST on Tuesday after the woman became trapped.

Despite their efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene, Staffordshire Police said.

Following an investigation, officers have confirmed they are not treating her death as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

“Our thoughts remain with the woman’s family and friends at this deeply traumatic time,” a police spokesperson said.
