A body has been discovered at a waste facility prompting a police investigation.

Cleveland Police officers were called to the Suez facility in Haverton Hill, near Billingham, on Wednesday afternoon, to reports a body had been found.

Police are trying to identify the body and find out how it came to be at the site.

Part of the energy-from-waste site is closed due to the ongoing police work, but the recycling plant is open, a Suez spokesperson said.
