Plans for a Halloween party with up to 200 guests at a house in West Yorkshire have been opposed following concerns about noise and anti-social behaviour.
A formal notice by has been issued by West Yorkshire Police to prevent the party happening at a house on Burley Road in Leeds, after organiser Elton Lopes wanted to hold the event until 04:00 BST.
The capacity was later reduced to 120, but permission for a temporary event notice was still refused when Leeds City Council's licensing sub-committee considered the proposal on Tuesday.
Sgt Andy Clifford said the event would be "highly inappropriate for the area".
"It's for hours that a city centre night club would be grateful for and the capacity of 200 people in a residential property is a lot," he added.
Police served the formal objection notice to the planned event which was scheduled to take place in the busy student area on 1 November.
Mr Lopes said the party would be invite-only and people would only be admitted with a wrist band or QR code.
"This is a one-off, well-organised event and we aim to create a safe and enjoyable event for a small group of invited guests," he said.
Mr Lopes added that the amount of alcohol guests could consume would be limited and measures were in place to prevent people from spilling out into the street.
The event application form also said a licensed drinks provider would be selling products at the party.
The application said: "We are hosting a Halloween house party with our friends. The house party will only have speakers inside but people will be allowed to stand in our back garden."
Councillors unanimously decided to issue a counter notice, citing noise nuisance, potential anti-social behaviour and public safety concerns.
