A kickboxer has said she plans to retire from Muay Thai kickboxing after a world title fight on Friday.

Mia Trevorrow, from from St Ives in Cornwall, said her kickboxing journey started five years ago and had been "incredibly fast paced."

She said would compete in the WARRIORS CUP LXXIV in New York on Friday for a world title, after which she planned to retire and move to Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).

"I've got a five year plan to make some waves over in the MMA and then that's me done I think," she said.

She said her journey began with a few local bouts in Muay Thai kickboxing and had "kind of skyrocketed this career over the last five years."

She said: "I would have liked to have spent more time in Thai but it's also an age thing... I'm turning 27 in April so I've got to crack on get down to business if I plan on doing well in another sport.

"I've been lucky enough to be signed straight to pro MMA with FCC, which is a massive worldwide organisation," Ms Trevorrow said.

"My ambitions never really had a ceiling even when I've not necessarily even had the experience or the skill... the experience is now there," she said.

Ms Trevorrow said she was looking forward to the fight on Friday.

She said: "As everybody has, I've won some, I've drawn some, I've lost some but no matter what I've always walked out and gone I just gave it my all and that's going to be absolutely no different this time."
