Body found in search for man seen entering river

A man was seen going into the River Ouse in the early hours of Wednesday

Police searching for a 19-year-old man who was seen going into the River Ouse in York have recovered a body.
Divers had been searching the river after the individual was spotted entering the water from Ouse Bridge just after 03:00 GMT on Wednesday.
North Yorkshire Police confirmed a man's body was recovered from the river at 11:45 GMT.
The force said formal identification had yet to take place but it could be the man reported missing. There were no apparent suspicious circumstances.

A spokesperson said: "His family have been updated and are receiving specialist support from officers."
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage "to come forward as soon as possible".
