A house linked to drug-related crime has been closed.

Northumbria Police said it had received complaints from the public about activities at the house on Sheraton in Leam Lane, Gateshead.

An investigation found the property was connected to a range of crimes, including anti-social behaviour and drug-taking.

The force teamed up with Gateshead Council to use civil powers and magistrates granted the order preventing anyone entering the house for three months.

Sgt Elliott Richardson of Northumbria Police said: "Thank you to the local community for providing the initial information so that we have been able to put a stop to this type of criminality at this address.

"Anti-social behaviour and drug-related crime have no place in our communities, and those living nearby should not have to put up with it."
