A young boy in a "distressed state" who was nearly hit by a vehicle has been found "safe and well", Guernsey Police have said.

The force had appealed for witnesses after the child, described as a black male aged about 10 to 11 years old, ran into the road and was nearly struck in St Martin.

He was seen fleeing the area before officers arrived on the scene, near the Co-operative store at Les Camps.

"Thank you to all members of the public that supported us in our inquiries," officers said.
