Police found the remains in Emersons Green on 5 November

Police have identified human remains found in a field earlier this month as those of a man who went missing in the spring.

David Wilson, 63, of Downend, South Gloucestershire, had not been seen since mid-May this year.

Avon and Somerset Police said forensic examinations of the remains found in Emersons Green near Bristol on 5 November have shown them to be Mr Wilson.

His next of kin have been informed, the force said, adding his death is being treated as unexplained.

"Officers have found no evidence of suspicious circumstances," police said, saying the post-mortem examination "proved inconclusive".
