Overnight road closures are planned for Tamworth as a £1.2m road scheme nears completion.

Reconstruction of Aldergate and Upper Gungate in Tamworth will see resurfacing work take place between Lichfield Street and Comberford Road.

The project also includes improvements to a section of Offa Drive and repairs to kerbs, crossings and ironworks in the area.

Staffordshire County Council said the final phase of the project was due to be finished by Friday.

Resurfacing will take place overnight on Monday from 19:30 to 05:00 BST as the final phase of the work covers from Croft Street to Comberford Road.

A diversion will be in place, the local authority said, adding that teams would be on hand to assist drivers with access to properties.
