Fire crews remain at the scene of a large barn fire in Kent.

The blaze in Leysdown Road in Eastchurch, Sheerness, started at about 12:00 BST on Saturday.

Nearby residents are still advised to keep their windows and doors closed due to a large amount of smoke coming from the barn, Kent Fire and Rescue Service said.

Eight fire engines were sent, but three remain at the scene.

"Crews continue to make good progress in working to extinguish the flames, but are expected to be on site for at least the rest of the weekend,” a fire service spokesman said.

“Motorists are also advised to avoid this area.

“Please share this information with any loved ones in the area who may not have access to the internet.”

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
