Four people suspected of being involved in hare coursing have been arrested after being spotted by a member of the public.

Officers were called to a field in Burbage, near Marlborough on Sunday, but the group quickly made off. Their car was later stopped on the A350 near Chippenham.

Two men, aged 16 and 18, from Bristol, as well as a 24-year-old man and a 34-year-old man from Pembroke, were arrested on suspicion of going equipped for hare coursing. The 24-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of driving without insurance.

All four remain in police custody and four lurcher type dogs, which were found in the car, have been taken into kennels, Wiltshire Police said.
