A series of overnight motorway closures could disrupt journeys to and from an airport over the coming weeks, drivers have been warned.
Work around junction six of the M42 begins on Monday and will continue through to November, National Highways said.
Initial overnight closures will be in place on the M42 southbound between junction six and junction 5a around Birmingham Airport and the A4545 northbound from 21:00 to 05:00 BST on Monday until 30 September.
Repair work will also take place on the B4438 Catherine de Barnes Lane bridge and B4102 Solihull Road bridge at the same time.
The work on safety and capacity improvements on this important strategic route was being carried out to support economic growth and planned development in the region, a National Highways spokesperson said.
Further closures will be put in place in October and November:
Wednesday 1 October to Thursday 16 October - M42 southbound between junctions 6 and 5a
Friday 17 October and from Monday 20 October to Monday 27 October - M42 northbound between junctions 5a and M42 southbound between junctions 6 and 5
Tuesday 28 October to Friday 31 October and Monday 3 November to Tuesday 11 November - M42 northbound between junctions 5 and 6 and A4545 northbound
Wednesday 12 to Friday 14 November - M42 junction 5a northbound exit slip road and A4545 northbound.
The B4438 Catherine de Barnes Lane bridge is due to reopen on Friday, 14 November.
Diversion routes will be in place during the closures, a National Highways spokesperson said.
