A series of initiatives worth £500,000 are set to be launched to help businesses.

Thirty independent shops in Stafford town centre will first be given the opportunity to improve their business with advice from experts.

Free advice and sustainability support will also be available to help outlets become more energy efficient and reduce emissions.

Run by Stafford Borough Council and funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), the programme aims eventually to support around 500 small and medium businesses.

One-to-one support in sales, marketing and administration will also be available along with advice to help businesses grow, delivered by business growth specialist Good2Great.

Councillor Rob Kenney said a range of companies, enterprises and future entrepreneurs would be invited to part so they "grow and thrive in our borough".
