Hospital entrance closes for building work

A hospital’s outpatient entrance has been closed as part of work to build a four-storey expansion.
Patients and visitors at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital were told to use the treatment centre as the main entrance from Monday.
The work is part of major plans from the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust to transform its two hospitals.
Under the plans, Telford Princess Royal will lose its A&E, with Royal Shrewsbury to become the main emergency centre.
Consultant-led women and children's services will also move to Shrewsbury.
The construction of the new building is due to take a number of years, the trust said previously.
Matthew Neal, director of the trust’s hospitals transformation programme, said he recognised the work would cause some disruption.
“I’d like to thank our staff, patients and visitors for their continued patience and support, as we deliver this transformational programme of work,” he said.
