Statue defaced in public Guernsey garden

A statue has been defaced in a public garden in St Peter Port in Guernsey, police have said.

Guernsey Police said investigations had begun after paint, or a similar substance, had been thrown onto the front of a Queen Victoria Statue in Candie Gardens.

It said the incident took place between 16:00 GMT on Wednesday and 08:00 on Thursday.

A window on a nearby outbuilding was also damaged, and the police are asking witnesses and those with information to come forward.
