A woman has been arrested after a man suffered serious injuries in a road collision in Nottingham.

Police were called to Mapperley Road at about 04:00 BST on Friday to reports a man was lying in the road and a car had then struck him.

The victim, aged in his 20s, has been taken to hospital but no further information on his condition has been released.

Officers have confirmed a 48-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

Police said despite the arrest their investigation was ongoing and appealed for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at the time to get in touch.
