A man who bit a police officer on the arm while being arrested for drug dealing has been jailed for three years.

Mohammed Ali was arrested in Cambridge last year by police who saw him carry out a suspected deal in Petersfield Gardens.

He was caught with crack cocaine and heroin worth £2,670, £1,500 in cash and two mobile phones.

Ali, from Swanspool, Peterborough, was sentenced at Huntingdon Law Courts after admitting drugs charges and assault.

Officers searched Ali's home and found a further £3,310 in cash, as well as other drug paraphernalia

One of the phones seized by police rang 75 times following Ali's arrest.

Investigations revealed it was used to operate the Cobi drugs line, between 12 February and 13 April last year.

Officers searched Ali's home and found a further £3,310 in cash, as well as other drug paraphernalia.

In court he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin.

He also admitted possession of criminal property, possession of cannabis and assault of an emergency worker.

PC Ollie Hagen said: "Ali originally claimed he was being forced to sell drugs, but the evidence demonstrated he was operating a class A drug enterprise in Cambridge.

"He would travel from Peterborough and send hundreds of messages to vulnerable drug users advertising crack cocaine and heroin for sale, and then pocket the cash."
