Plans for a new college building on a car park have been given the go-ahead.

Stoke-on-Trent College wants to knock down a five-storey building at its Burslem campus and build a two and three-storey "entrance hub" to a neighbouring building.

The new build off Moorland Road will include classrooms, science labs and a roof terrace, according to plans approved by Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

It would rationalise space, be cheaper to run and improve the learner experience, the college stated.

The entrance hub will be built to the north of A-block, on land which is currently used as a car park.

Highways officers had raised some concerns over the loss of 21 parking spaces, but did not object to the plans.
