Arrest after passengers hurt when car hit wall

An 18-year-old driver has been arrested after a passenger was seriously hurt when a car hit a wall.

The crash was on the A34, Rood Hill, Congleton, about 01:40 GMT on Friday.

A man, 19, was seriously injured, with another two passengers in the Vauxhall Corsa sustaining minor injuries, said Cheshire Police.

The driver from Winsford was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing a serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drugs, the force said.

He was taken to hospital as a precaution before being taken into custody.

The seriously injured 19-year-old passenger remained in hospital, the force added.
