A set of roadworks on the route into Stratford-upon-Avon will be paused to make way for an expected influx of visitors over Easter weekend.

From Friday until Monday evening, work on a one-way system is being suspended.

The system will be put back in place on 2 April, but motorists have been warned that Ingon Lane junction will remain closed.

Warwickshire County Council has said extra signage will be installed to warn drivers of various risks such as narrow lanes, removal of road studs and no overtaking.

Similar plans to suspend the one-way system are in place for Shakespeare’s Birthday Celebration weekend from 20 to 21 April.

The ongoing A439 Warwick Road improvement scheme has seen new ditches and drainage pipes installed to address existing flooding problems along the planned route.

Workers have also removed 650 meters of kerbs to create a trench for the new cycle lane kerb line.

Councillor Jan Matecki said: "These works will not only enhance safety but also address long-standing drainage issues in the area. We appreciate the continued patience of the local community and remain committed to minimizing disruption throughout the project.”
