Rocks painted with "Britain's wonkiest pub" on them as part of a campaign to save the historic pub have gone around the world.

Megan Wakeman has created more than 100 works of The Crooked House that have reached as far afield as the US, Nepal and the Domincan Republic.

The idea is that people find a rock, hide it somewhere else, then take a picture of the new location and post the image on Facebook page Save The Crooked House.

The owners of the pub in Himley, near Dudley, have recently lodged an appeal against a rebuilding order, after its demolition following a suspected arson attack.

South Staffordshire Council served the enforcement notice in February and has said it was awaiting a date when the appeal would be heard.

The Facebook group now has more than 35,000 members, with each rock bearing a number and the name of the group.

Nearly 90 rocks are already out there and Ms Wakeman, from Himley, said "a lot of people" have asked for more and "once I've done these, I'll have done 116".

Asked how she felt seeing images, she replied: "[A] bit like a proud parent really.

"It's quite surreal still, though, knowing that my work that started off in my kitchen has gone further than me. I'm quite jealous actually."

Ms Wakeman said she had to draw "64 windows on each one".

"I didn't expect it to be so popular, but yeah, I'll keep going until I need to stop really.

"As far as they can go the better, isn't it really? [It] gets the word out there."

"Britain's wonkiest inn" caught fire on 5 August and was demolished two days later

The reconstruction order requires the owners to restore the building back to what it was prior to the fire on 5 August last year.

The pub is owned by ATE Farms Limited, and the enforcement notice was served to the company as well as its director George Adam Taylor and former director Carly Taylor, who stepped down in December.

Five men and one woman have been arrested in connection with the fire, which the force is treating as arson, Staffordshire Police said.

All have been released on conditional bail.
