A woman whose home was flooded during Storm Babet a month ago says she may have to live in temporary accommodation for up to nine months.

Lucy Elliott, 25, lives with her husband and baby in Attleborough, Norfolk where about 100 properties were flooded around the weekend of 20-22 October.

She said the cost to repair their property remained unknown but it was "not going to be cheap".

The government said financial support was available, external for homes and businesses left devastated by the storm.

"We've had to take all the skirting boards off and we've got dehumidifiers and fans drying it all out," Ms Elliot said.

"We are currently living with my parents and we are having to move into rented accommodation for six to nine months."

Storm Babet swept across England, flooding homes, businesses and roads.

Norfolk and Suffolk were among the worst affected areas.

In Attleborough, some homes still have skips and sandbags outside.

To help with immediate repair costs, the UK government said flooded households could apply for up to £500.

Small-to-medium sized businesses were also be eligible for up to £2,500.

Residents of Attleborough said they were aware of additional financial support but they had received no direct communication about the schemes.

Conservative councillor and executive member of Breckland Council, Helen Crane, said the storm had a "profound impact" on residents.

"The funding secured from the government is a vital step towards alleviating the immediate financial burdens faced by our residents and aiding their recovery," she said.
