New £400k play area officially opens in town

A new £400,000 play area has been completed at a park in Derbyshire.
Erewash's "biggest fun zone" opens on Tuesday at West Park in Long Eaton.
The new space, which includes a nine metre (29.5ft) high twisting tube, took eight weeks to complete and was funded by the government's Shared Prosperity Fund.
Councillor Josy Hare, from Erewash Borough Council, said: "The great news is that, thanks to the council pursuing government funding and other sources of investment, the borough is reaping huge benefit."
During the design process, the council asked residents to pick their favourite of two designs for the new play area - with the winner being chosen on 1 May.
After more than 2,300 votes were counted, “Option One” was the winner and is now being used by children in the borough.
The old play equipment at the site was refurbished and relocated to other playgrounds across Erewash, said the council.
