Northampton Town will play "friendly" local rivals Kettering Town in a competitive tie for the first time in 35 years

Fans attending the first competitive meeting between two local football rivals in almost 35 years have been asked to arrive early.

League One Northampton Town are hosting non-league Kettering Town in the FA Cup first round proper at 17:30 GMT.

The Cobblers said a "small" number of home supporter tickets remained for the tie, which is being broadcast live on BBC iPlayer and BBC Two.

The club said Duston Mill car park was not available for the fixture due to a fireworks event, however the north gravel car park at Sixfields Stadium is open.

Turnstiles will open at 16:00 and fans are invited to arrive at any point from that time onwards.

Northampton Town will also hold its annual service of remembrance at the Walter Tull memorial at 16:30, with a period of silence planned inside the stadium prior to kick-off.

The last meeting between the sides was in 1989, also in the FA Cup, with Northampton winning 1-0 at Kettering's former Rockingham Road ground.
