A police officer has been given a four-month suspended sentence after admitting multiple breaches of a non-molestation order.

Det Con Jashwinder Singh, who works in the Bradford area, had been suspended from duty and would face a misconduct hearing after causing "significant distress to the victim", West Yorkshire Police said.

At Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, the 48-year-old, of Onslow Crescent in Bradford, admitted six breaches of a non-molestation order under the Family Law Act.

The offences took place between February 2023 and February 2024.

Singh was jailed for four months for each offence, with each sentence to be served concurrently and suspended for 20 months.

Det Ch Supt Nicola Bryar, from West Yorkshire Police’s Professional Standards Directorate, said: "I hope that this case demonstrates to victims that we will pursue police perpetrators and bring them to justice."

She labelled his behaviour "completely unacceptable".
