A 17-year-old has been arrested after a police chase through Edinburgh city centre following a stolen car that hit a pedestrian.

Officers pursued the Range Rover from West Port to Lothian Road at about 19:50 on Wednesday, before stopping for safety reasons.

The vehicle continued to Princes Street, where it hit a woman before coming to a stop on South St David Street after colliding with a taxi.

The teenager was later caught after fleeing on foot. They face multiple charges of road traffic offences.

The injured woman was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment for minor injuries. The driver of the taxi was not hurt.

One lane of Princes Street, near the Scott Monument, was closed for about three hours while an investigation took place.

The car had previously been reported stolen by its owner.

The teenager was released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
