Two men have been jailed for a "meticulously planned" ambush, which saw a man seriously injured when he was blasted with a shotgun.

Nathan Dale, 37, and Jordan McKenzie-Pryce, 38, attacked their victim in Waltham Abbey, Essex, in August 2022.

A jury had convicted them of causing grievous bodily harm and possession of a firearm with intent.

Dale and McKenzie-Pryce were jailed for 10 and 12 years respectively at Chelmsford Crown Court.

Both were handed an additional two years on to their sentences, which would be served on licence.

They had been waiting to attack their victim in Crooked Mile after monitoring his social media profiles in the days leading up to the shooting on 30 August 2022, Essex Police said.

At about 22:00 on that date, the man parked and stepped out of his car where he was then ambushed.

He was shot in the arm but managed to escape the duo, prosecutors said.

Police said Dale, of Prospect Road in Barnet, and his co-defendant had attempted to reposition CCTV cameras in the area prior to the attack.

They were arrested at their home addresses on 14 September last year.

"We are glad to see both defendants served a custodial sentence for this potentially deadly attack," Det Insp Frazer Low said.

"While the impact of this ordeal will stay with the victim, I hope it provides some comfort knowing that Dale and McKenzie-Pryce will now be off the streets of Essex."

McKenzie-Pryce, of Leverson Street in Norbury, Streatham, was also ordered to pay £25,000 compensation during the court hearing after he admitted an unrelated burglary offence.
