Firefighters were called to free a pony that became stuck on a stile in a field in Derbyshire.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to fields near Firfield Avenue, in Breaston, on Sunday morning after a passer-by saw the animal had got into a "pickle".

A fire crew was able to release the stranded pony and added the animal appeared to be unscathed.

In a post on social media, the fire service said it appeared the pony had made a "break for freedom", and urged its owner to make sure the fencing around the field was secure.
