A former funeral director worker wanted by police for more than five years has admitted defrauding grieving customers.

Steven Drinkwater, 47, from Ottery St Mary in Devon, indicated guilty pleas to eight counts of fraud by false representation on 9 January.

A West Midlands Police investigation found Drinkwater took money from people arranging funerals and headstones in Wolverhampton between 2013 and 2015.

He is due to be sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Wednesday.

Police said Drinkwater, formerly of Wolverhampton, was arrested in Devon on 7 January.
