A Guernsey airline has announced a new partnership with a flight training academy which supplies pilots to airlines.

Aurigny confirmed its partnership with Norse Atlantic UK in July, and will now also partner with Oxford-based company Leading Edge Aviation.

Aurigny and Norse Atlantic UK are creating a Pilot Career Pathway Partnership as part of plans to build a "sustainable pipeline" of talent for both airlines.

Philip Smallwood, the airline's chief operations officer, said the partnership "places both Aurigny and Guernsey firmly at the heart of pilot careers".

It said recruiters would select four aspiring pilots from the Leading Edge Airline Preparation programme to take part in the new scheme.

Successful pilots would join Aurigny once their 18-month basic flying course was complete, it added.

Andy McFarlane, CEO of Leading Edge Aviation, said the collaboration "not only addressed the increasing global demand for skilled pilots but also delivers an unparalleled opportunity for our students".

"There is currently no other route that offers such a clear, structured, and accelerated path to the long-haul flight deck," he added.
