Person suffers serious injuries in Devon crash

A person has been seriously injured following a crash on a bridge in Devon.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers received calls about the incident involving a pedestrian and vehicle at New Bridge on the A379 Embankment Road in Kingsbridge at about 04:45 BST on Wednesday.

The force said it was reported the pedestrian had serious injuries and paramedics were also at the scene of the crash.

A police spokesperson said a road closure set up in both directions was likely to remain in place "for some time" and motorists had been advised to use alternative routes.
