Somerset butcher is named best in England

Tim Potter and his team have won three awards in three months

Tim Potter Family Butchers in Wellington, Somerset, is celebrating after picking up the prestigious title of 'Best Butcher in England'.

The team won the accolade at the Englands Business Awards 2023, external, which were held in Birmingham on Sunday 19 November.

The family-owned business has also been crowned 'Best in Somerset' and 'Best in the South West' in the last three months.

Tim runs the shop on Fore Street with his wife Pamela along with his son Chris and daughter Katie.

Tim Potter said: "We've done a very good job. As a family-owned business our customers come first, and I've got a very good crew around me."

"My daughter Katie has been very successful too and my son Chris came to work for me straight from school - he makes all the sausages and burgers."

"We won numerous gold awards in 2015 and we actually won the best sausage in Britain, so that was good as well."

Tim's daughter Katie Potter is a previous winner of the 'Rising Star Award' at the Women in Meat Awards 2020, external.

This year Katie was nominated in the Catering Butcher Category.

Katie said: "I didn't win this year unfortunately but I did very well to get to the final eight, which was very good. The competition is tough".
