Polling stations have opened across the UK for the 2024 general election.

Eligible people will be able to cast their votes from 07:00 until 22:00 BST.

There are 17 seats being contested in East and West Sussex, with the first results expected in the early hours of Friday.

Anyone intending to vote in person will need to take an approved form of photo ID to the polling station.

A redrawing of boundaries means there are some new constituency names for 2024. In Sussex, these are Sussex Weald, plus East Grinstead and Uckfield.

The BBC, like other broadcasters, is not allowed to report details of campaigning while the polls are open.
