Contractor secured for post-16 campus project

A contractor has been appointed to build phase one of a new post-16 campus in Guernsey.
The States of Guernsey announced Rok Group would carry out the work at Les Ozouets.
It will also carry out demolition of the former St Peter Port School and that work has begun, the Committee for Education, Sport and Culture has said.
Construction is expected to begin early next year and the campus is due to open in 2027.
Competitive offer
Nick Hynes, director of education and senior responsible officer for the scheme, said it was a "hugely exciting next step".
Officials said phase one of the build will include the main building and construction and engineering building, as well as the foundations of the future sixth form centre.
“This campus will become the centre of post-16 learning in Guernsey," he said.
"Islanders will study for post-16 exams there, take part in vocational courses, or study higher education and earn degrees on-island."
He said the Jersey-based construction company offered the "most financially and operationally competitive offer".
"I would like to reassure the community that Rok has a local Guernsey registered entity and a large amount of the works will be undertaken by the local supply chain through sub-contracts, and will therefore benefit local trades.
“This is a hugely exciting next step for the Transforming Education Programme and we now look forward to construction starting.”
Officials said The Princess Royal Centre for the Performing Arts will remain open throughout the demolition and construction process.
