A man who died on Christmas Day in what police are treating as a suspected murder has been named.

Louis Price, 31, was found suffering a cardiac arrest on Elm Road, Norton Canes, at about 03:30 GMT on Wednesday.

A 33-year-old woman, from Cannock, had been arrested on suspicion of murder and remained in custody, Staffordshire Police said.

A referral had been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct following recent police contact, the force added.

Mr Price's family described him as a "well-known member of the community who always had a smile on his face".

He left behind four daughters and two sons, who relatives said had "loved him dearly".

"He always had time for anyone and would help anyone he could," they said in a statement.

"As a family we are devastated at losing Louis. Life will never be the same without him, he leaves a huge hole in the lives of everyone who knew him.

"Christmas is a time we have always spent together as a family, to lose Louis at this time is even harder."

They added Louis had been a devoted fisherman and life-long supporter of Aston Villa.

Relatives also asked people not to speculate about what had happened.

Police said a magistrate had granted detectives extra time to interview the suspect.
