Concern after traffic cones dropped onto A14
- Published
A police force has said throwing traffic cones from a bridge and onto a busy main road "could be catastrophic" and lead to "serious injury or death".
There have been two recent incidents involving traffic cones being dropped onto the A14, at about 17:50 BST on Monday and just after 18:00 on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Suffolk Police officers were called after a Ford Fiesta collided with a cone between junctions 43 and 42 at Bury St Edmunds, causing damage to the car.
Two white men in black clothing – including one with a push scooter - were seen running away from the bridge on Raynham Road.
PC Jonathan Burke, from the Roads and Armed Policing Team, said: "This is being taken extremely serious by police.
“Although on both occasions no-one has been injured, the implications of throwing objects in front of moving traffic could be catastrophic, leading to serious injury or even death."
Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact Suffolk Police.
