Woman named and man arrested after fatal crash

A woman who died after being struck by a car in Wakefield over the weekend has been named by police.

West Yorkshire Police said Louise Hargill, 46, was hit by a black Vauxhall Corsa being driven on Clifton Avenue, Horbury, at about 22:15 BST on Saturday.

She received medical attention at the scene but died a short time later, the force confirmed.

A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.

Officers asked anyone with information about the crash to come forward.
