Man held after disorder at city centre protests

A man wanted in connection with violent disorder during protests in Nottingham city centre has been arrested.

Nottinghamshire Police said a 19-year-old Asian man was punched several times by a white man in Old Market Square on 3 August before others joined the assault.

A 35-year-old man was detained in Bestwood on Wednesday morning on suspicion of violent disorder and taken into custody, the force said.

Assistant chief constable Rob Griffin said officers had been going through footage supplied by members of the public and investigations were continuing.
