Three people have been arrested after the deaths of two men, which police believe to be drug-related.

Northumbria Police is investigating after the men, aged in their 30s and 50s, died in Gateshead.

Officers searched an address in Claremont South Avenue, in Bensham, where they found evidence of drug production and weapons.

"Two men - aged in their 20s and 30s - and a woman in her 30s have been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs," a force spokesperson said.

"All three individuals remain in police custody."

Police are trying to establish whether the deaths are linked.
