A man has denied stealing four artefacts from a museum.

Appearing at Newcastle Crown Court, the 45-year-old pleaded not guilty to the theft from South Shields Museum in August.

Items he is accused of stealing included a nine-carat gold watch chain and a medal associated with former Manchester United goalkeeper Ray Wood.

The man has been released on bail and will stand trial in June 2026.
