Man arrested after pedestrian injured in crash

A man has been arrested after a pedestrian in his 70s was seriously hurt in a crash in Scarborough town centre.
North Yorkshire Police said the incident happened on Castle Road near the junction with Regent Street at about 13:15 BST on Sunday.
It involved a black BMW X5 and the driver, 43, was arrested in connection with the investigation.
He has since been released on conditional bail while inquiries continue.
The pedestrian remained in hospital in a serious condition, police said.
The road was closed until 19:00 BST while police recovered the vehicle.
