A drunk driver who drove on the wrong side of a dual carriageway at speeds of up to 60mph before later ramming a woman's car has been jailed for more than two years.
Slawomir Stiller, 49, was found to be almost six times over the legal driving limit following the incidents on the A9 near Inverness in May.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard that after driving south in a northbound lane he went on to target a female driver he mistakenly believed to be his wife.
Stiller followed her car to the Kessock Bridge before overtaking and then reversing his van into her vehicle.
Police received 12 emergency calls about Stiller's driving.
Officers set up a roadblock and after he was stopped Stiller was found to be unsteady on his feet and shouting incoherently.
The court heard a bottle of whisky and medication was found in the van.
Stiller was sentenced to 28 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges including drink driving, dangerous driving, assault and threating behaviour.
He was also disqualified from driving for nine years and two months.
Following sentencing, procurator fiscal Alison McKenzie said: "Slawomir Stiller showed a reckless disregard for the safety of other motorists.
"It is entirely possible that his conduct could have resulted in a fatal incident.
"He will now spend a period in prison as a consequence of his actions."
The court heard Stiller's driving forced one driver to take evasive action to avoid his van.
Later, after ramming the woman's car, Stiller tried to open her car doors and punched her vehicle.
A roadside breath test revealed his breath alcohol level to be 136 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath, which is more than six times the legal limit of 22 microgrammes.
