Woman dies in Borders village house fire

Emergency services were called out to the incident in the Borders village on Thursday morning

A woman has died in a house fire in a village in the Scottish Borders.

Emergency services were called out to a property on Dick Road in Bowden at about 08:30.

Police Scotland said a 65-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A statement added: "Her next of kin are aware. Inquiries are ongoing into the circumstances."
